enough is enough…. my self diagnosed sinus infection has officially got the best of me.
after feeling like a bag of dirt for the better part of a month, I took a turn for the worse today and had to seek out a doctor here in San Diego.
NOT a pleasant experience.
1- they don’t have ‘walk-in’ clinics per-se here in California.
2- anywhere I go, it has to be on foot, that is unless Marco comes with me and rots outside with the bikes while I’m inside waiting an eternity…
anywhoo…
I call up my medical insurance provider, they start a case file for me…. telling me that they will deal direct with the doctors office.
great, right?
nope.
the doctors office says – pay up in full BEFORE treatment…. and IF you go over and above what you paid just to speak with a doctor, they won’t give you your meds/script until it’s paid up in full.
so….. 3 or so hours later….. and $350 lighter, I got me some meds.
2 steroid injections in each ass cheek and some nasal mist along with 10 days of anti biotics.
On the road to wellness……..
Today was a recovery ride of sorts….. we were supposed to race yesterday in Murrieta, however the USCF has their head up their asses beyond comprehension.
They cap the field at 120 for the pro’s, and 100 in anything below that.
This was a stage race (omnium) and the previous day they ran out of ambulances because of a ton of serious crashes. With all the DNF’s… one would think many spots would open up, right?
Guess again…
Apparently, it’s impossible for the USCF to re-issue a rider a number that’s been previously used and handed in due to a DNF/DNS.
Yup.
Two completely different names aren’t comprehended by the US Cycling governing body.
So we were refused entry, and then watched a Cat 3 and Masters 35+ field race with less than 70 in each group. Even the pro peleton had a few places available.
A bummer, but what can you do. We tried.
So today we hit the roads for 4hrs and plunked along the ocean with Justin and Tiffany.
Tuesday looks like we’ll ride up the coast and hit the Torrey Pines climb above La Jolla (la-hoya)
Wednesday is an epic 200k ride – 50k up, 100k A-loop type ride, followed by the 50k ride home.
Thursday is the Fiesta Island Crit, which with any luck…. I hope to own. That’s the plan for now.
335k down…. 1000 or so to go…
Marco is sun burnt from chilling out on the deck while I went to the doctors office.
He’s been the chef since we arrived…. the stuff tastes great, however he says it’s bland as phuc, and it’s a good thing my taste buds are nuked.
lol.
that’s it for tonight.
happy trails!
d & the pointe….
